Raoji The Boss2

As the bus was moving out of my college, my thoughts were getting more and more obscured.I still couldn't think of one damn good reason about why he screwed me in class.I didn't do anything to provoke him nor had i ever even talked to him before."Didn't he like my attitude?".."Didn't he like my appearance?".."Was he angry at me for not listening in class?".Gosh!!These thoughts just kept coming, but they led to nowhere.

Ok!Now,let me start from the first."When did i know him??".Hmmm..He was there in my bus right from first sem(No:23).Oh!!So then i thought that i must've done something that made him really hate me."Enna pannaen?"..Hmmm..Other than fighting with some of my friends(school kid's style) and kalaaichifying(he he) them, nothing worth getting offended or irritated of.In fact, there were others who did this more frequently than me.Later, i got down from my bus and was still clueless.Few months went by and i was still clueless. To be honest, even now i am clueless about that incident.

After a few years,we had the pleasure of meeting again in 7th sem.I was not expecting him to come into my life again, because i heard he was doing in M.E in our college. But nevertheless,my fate didn't seem to spare me.Actually, nothing really special happened in that semester.Other guys were mostly busy with symposium work(that was the time even the padips started bunking classes).Obviously Rao didn't like this bunking stuff so he started saying that "symposium is just a waste of time","you can do programming in this time","make use of the lab in free time"...As usual no one gave a damn about him. Then i started thinking,"Ivan edho eppo paathalum padichitu irukira maadhiri overa scene a podran".If he is so brainy, our HOD(Ex-Aravindan) wouldn't have rejected his project and they wouldn't have argued about it,which ended in Rao storming out of the HOD's room abusing him(which was a treat for me to watch). So,i thought that he should either be a hypocrite or a crack. Finally,i was more than happy to find out that he was a crack.Yup!!A crack indeed!!

No normal person would laugh looking at two dogs mating (Source:Our immediate seniors).Preach everyone to study 24*7 and flunk in his M.E semester exams,do an OB project which of course any sensible person would reject.Show eccentric behaviour at times. If guys from my class would have noticed, he doesn't laugh when its necessary and doesn't show any normal reaction that one should. He also sight adichifies a girl in my bus who is probably half of his age.Every time she gets down, the look on his face says it all(LOL!!!).Heard he changed his internal marks in TOC sir's register for which he got caught and both were fired(Not sure about this though).

I feel these incidents make college days special.Though he scolded me and i felt bad at that time, looking back at these events now only makes me laugh!!!

Raoji THE BOSS

There i was sitting on one of the last benches of the class, just like any other typical backbencher, with my mind wavering around every direction it could possibly go to.It was 3rd sem and it was the DBMS class. The staff was our famous RAO.He was on time for the class and as the session started, just like in any other college or school the front benchers' eyes were glued to the board.Just to spoil the moment let me first tell you about my opinion on Rao(before the incident)!!!

I thought Rao was an ordinary staff in our coll who had reasonably good technical knowledge. But i really didn't know about his character or what kind of a person he was.Atleast, until the 'Ultimate Incident' of my life happened. After which i did some research on him, but i was still unable to frame him as a particular character. Now getting back to the story.....

As usual he was talking about some technical stuff and scribbling some syntax and queries on the board(yeah! his handwriting was pathetic). While i was coolly skimming through the pages of rb's "Reader's Digest".Approximately 20 minutes went by peacefully. Then suddenly he asked me to stand up and asked a question.I naturally didn't know and was standing there blinking my eyes and having an 'appavi' look on my face.30 seconds went by, then i thought "God! why doesn't this guy move on to someone else".But he stood there, just stood there expecting an answer from me.My friends started saying that the answer was on the board."Oh...Thank god!"(i thought)."Damn!!!"...but i couldn't figure out his handwriting. My friends then started prompting me the answer, each guy saying different points none of which my mind could comprehend. So i decided to stay put with my mouth shut. Finally, i guess our hero(Rao) got fed up.Then he started to say things which i would never forget in my life.

Rao:"Enna answer therilaya??.

Me:"No sir".

Rao:"Naanum romba naala paathitu irukaen nee panrathu onnum seri illayae".

Rao:"Thenavatta nadanthu varra porra.Unga appa enna periya businessmana??"

Before i could give an answer.

Rao:"Theriyuthu paathaelae theriyuthu!!"

Rao:"Oru simple questionuku kooda answer therila.X(sum technical geek's name.I don't quite remember it.So its better to call him X)nu oru than irukan avan excellent coder.Entha programa irunthalum he will finish it within few seconds.Nee avana compare pannum podhu onnumae illa."

Rao:"Romba naala paathitu irukaen classa cut adikara..Unnala classla oru 8hrs ukkara mudiyadha??(like it was an easy task).Even the last class you bunked correcta?"

Me:"Yes sir.Symposium work irundhudhu."(How dumb!!)

Ofcourse he did'nt believe me.He smiled and went on about giving a load of bullshit which was nowhere related to me not answering the question. Finally, the session got over.I was more than glad and guess most of my classmates were equally surprised by whatever nonsense that rao said to me.Then i realised that i had dbms lab with him next.So slowly i walked out of the class very embarassed to even look at my classmates' faces.Calmly,i sat inside the lab next to rbpravin. After few minutes he came and sat next to me and having an expression as though he really cared for me,he asked me whether i had any doubts. Then we started to do a kind of revision of queries where he asked me few queries for which every time i provided the right answer he said "No!!" and again he told me whatever i told.I thought "Is he a complete mental case or is he determined to piss me off for the entire day!!".Then the lab ended though it wasn't as eventful as the theory class.

One thing that really surprised me that day was none of my friends tried to make fun of me or kept irritating me by repeating what rao said. And when i was going back in the bus i started to think about why he scolded me so bad and started to analyse the various possible reasons.....

To be continued.....

Note:Tell me what you people thought when this incident occured.Im sure no one could've forgotten it.

Are you a leader??

Well friends, before i start off,i want you frame a mental picture of a leader(in any field) and the qualities that he/she possesses.Hmm..let me guess. You could have thought of a person,

1)who appears to be good looking.
2)an extrovert.
3)whom you might feel has certain characteristics that you don't possess.
4)makes the right decision 99% of the time.
5)a trademarked diplomat.
6)a person maintaining a high degree of decency and decorum.
7)an etiquette.

The list goes on and on,which of course means that each person has a different view on leadership. This intrigues my mind to think about the question,"Are leaders really born?","Is it a naturally occurring phenomenon?","Are leaders infallible?" and "Don't the ordinary people stand a chance to become a leader?".Hmm...

I don't really understand what people try to say when they say "He's a great leader machi!!Born leader.Just like his father. You can only dream of becoming such a guy"..."Huh???" "Is he right??"(I ask myself )..Maybe or maybe not..But personally i feel that leaders are never really born. Now,lets go back to the school days when we used to have small gangs with sum macho leaders for each gang. The leader would usually be strong and tall. All he does is bully small kids, argues or talks back to the teachers and enjoys the support that his friends give. This goes on from one generation to another. This is acceptable as we were kids at that time and didn't have a mature mind and worldly knowledge to arrive at a proper conclusion.Lets call this period "Stage 1".

So as years went by we started to have our own perception and views on leadership.Again what we did was,we blindly accepted others opinion on leadership and made it a part of our 'understanding of leadership'.Which made it much more complex for a person to even consider himself/herself becoming a leader. This is the time i felt that many of them erred.Instead, these people should have analyzed the features, characteristics that he/she requires to manage at least say a small group of people and started working on it rather than portraying his/her leader as an equivalent to god. This period can be called as "Stage 2".

Even after stage 1 and stage 2 if still the person feels that he/she becoming a leader is a humbug.He/she can try "Stage 3"..The stages keep coming..he..he.I strongly feel that any person can become a leader at any point of time. You can't call it as a stroke of luck or fate.If a person after say 30 years of ordinary life becomes a leader it just means that that person has realized and worked on the steps to become an effective leader. Its all about realization, understanding, adaptation, confidence and all the other basic stuff, which every single person in the world can develop at any point of time in his/her life.

Now going back to the questions that i asked in the beginning..Leaders are never really born. Its just that that person(leader) took early steps at an early period of his/her life to become a leader when others were probably wandering off doing other things. So as time went by he/she knew how to influence people better than any one else.Another general misconception is that when people say "He is a leader just like his father".It only means that the person was easily able to learn many leadership qualities from his/her father and make it part of his/her system. So there is a high chance of that person's action to have a similar style or effect just like his/her fathers'.Even the leaders might make mistakes in life(as it is human to err) but they will remain as a leader until they know how to remain as one.

Finally i conclude by saying that, leaders are not born(as a child) but are only born when they realize(self-realization) and try becoming one.

The Nature Man

I dont know how many of you would have thought about this.Have you ever wondered how life would have been if there was no one to nurture and tune us into a person to be accepted as a part of the society??No protocols or no principles that one has to follow??And live a life as he/she wants??Hmmmm..Beats me!!Probably there would have been many groups of people having their own lifestyle. Not necessarily like those in the primitive era.But a more modified version of the tribal life..Cook food, eat, move from place to place, run like a mad person and do everything that he/she wants based on his/her instincts...Would be great!!Aint it??Hell no!!Now this is complete nonsense..Dont tell me that you could empathize with the previous few lines of this passage..

However in this period (our era), many philosophers, parents, schools, organisations would agree (nature+nurture) could do wonders for a person..In earlier days people used to think that the only way to succeed in life is to do nothing but work..work..work and work.Phew!
1)Wonder which nerd came up with such an idea.
2)And why the hell did he/she have to spread this dumb so called theory to the world and expected everyone to follow it.

Now,the shift from this approach is known to all..Students are given time to relax, play, make a choice of their own(atleast in few cases)..The working people are given a break once in a while and so on in other cases also..By the way using the term 'nature' i meant the invidual's choice and not the literal meaning of nature..

For those who still dont understand what im trying to say..All that im asking for is,whether can anyone provide a perfect system,a perfect blend of nature and nurture that is by no means penetrateable..This system provided should be completely foolproof..It should suit all human beings and living creatures..

Anyone able to create such a system,i will fall down on my feet and worship that person as 'THE GOD'.

First blood

Hey people,

Am new to dis.Hope it works out fine for me.

Cheers
